Hat, pre-shaped
decoupage hat, the hat was painted with black gesso, after it was dried mod
podge was used to adhere the steampunk spells “Mechanical Marvels” paper to the
sides of the hat. On the top of the hat “Fanciful Floral” Steampunk spells was
adhered. The last steam punk paper used is on the brim of the hat – “Clockworks”.
Black lace
was adhered around the top rim of the hat & black & white polka dot
ribbon was adhered on the bottom of the hat above the rim. On top of the ribbon 1 ¼” wide flat bling
was placed just leaving a hint that a ribbon is beneath the bling.
On the back of the hat a pair of large wings
where attached
Wings
where prepped by paining them with black gesso allowing them to dry before the
spay adhesive was applied. Immediately burnt orange glitter was applied to both
sides of the wings.
On top of
the fabric a laser chipboard spider web & crow along with a die cut gear. The spider web & crow where painted with
distress paint, the gear was adhered to the back of the spider web.
The skull was
also a hard decoupage skull. The technique I used was to use the scraps of
steampunk paper and adhere the paper using mod podge in a random fashion.
After the
skull was dry it was placed on the right upper ridge of the hat.
Next to the
skull I placed a witches’ hat just to the side to the skull.
·
To
the witches hat I cut scalloped circles placed one underneath the hat as a base
and the second one I cut to cover the brim. The steampunk paper I used is “Beware”.
·
A
set of gears were added to the front of the hat above the decorative foliage on
the brim of the witches’ hat.
To the front
of the large hat a large set of gears cut from the paper line was placed in the
center, behind those gears a pair of smaller wings where added.
Decorative
foliage was added to the top of the hat from the middle to the back of the
hat
in a random fashion. Black / silver spider web fabric was woven through the
base of the decorative foliage.
Seymour
Bones was then added behind the large orange wings in a sitting
position, knees
bent straddling the hat. Seymour
Bones was off set to the left a
bit so he could be seen between the hat &
the wings.
A one legged
crow was placed on the brim of the hat on the right side.
