Winter Wonderland Bird Cage by Kim

Happy Holidays Everyone! It is Kim here today to share with you a fun project I have created.   It is a Winter Wonderland Bird Cage.
The Birdcage itself is a wooden one from my stash, but I have decorated it in a Wintery Theme.  I used tons of Gina's gorgeous pieces on it, and it really came out pretty. I used some lovely Venise lace on the top of the cage and around the bottom as well. You can see below I have used the Fleur De Lis Gate on the front of the cage, it really worked out well to create the illusion that it was the cage door. Below you can also see I have use some of the Hinges to make it look like the cage is hinged at the corners. I used a simple technique of just using Silver Embossing powder and went around the edges with a dark Chalk ink, and they really look like distressed metal!

Above is a close up of the Front of the cage, and below is a simple embellishment of a metal Key to unlock the cage, and a little wooden tag from WhichCraft on Zibbet which says "Magic". I have used Glossy Accents on the tag, and also some Micro Beads in Silver and blue around the edges to give it that wintery touch.

Here is a Vintage Metal Piece I have used, I just love this piece, and you can see the blue and white damask paper I used and peeking inside the cage is 2 of Gina's Wooden Birds on a Flourish. More of these will be available in January 2014, so keep an eye on the store for all the new goodies Gina will be coming out with!
Below here you can see a close up of the birds, I mixed a custom color in the same blue that is on the paper line, and then distressed the edges of the wood with sandpaper and some chalk inks. Inside of the cage you can also see part of the Chandelier  which I painted in the same color.

At the top of the Chandelier is one of the Stars, which are called Heidi's Stars in the store, I really love these stars, they are so fun to play with.  I have used some sticky embossing powder to adhere some white glitter, to give a very sparkly magical feel of a winter wonderland.
Here is a snowflake from the Snowflake Shape Set, I have painted it white, then used glossy accents to adhere the micro beads in silver and blue.
Here is a tree from the Winter Shape Set, I again used the sticky embossing powder on it and the white glitter, I just love the look it gives of a frosty tree first thing in the morning.

Below you can see some more of  how I've decorated the inside of the cage. I have placed 2 white bottle brush trees inside, and some flowers in the same blue tones and whites.

And Finally, on the top of the cage, I have used some of the Chicken Wire, and embossed it with a similar blue tone, another of the Snowflakes from the Snowflake Shape Set, and more of the flowers, and a little pair of silver angel wings peeking out as well.
Thank you so much for having a peek at my project today, and I hope you will like it and find a bit of inspiration here today. Happy Holidays Everyone!
