Steampunk Project with Guest Designer Jackie Neal

Hello and welcome everyone!  Jackie Neal here today and I am over the moon excited to be the September Guest Designer here at Gina's Designs!!
The first time I saw Gina's laser cuts used were on a friend's blog. Straight away I had to go check out the store and you know what? I sent my first order in that day!  Thank you Nichola Battilana for turning me on to Gina's Designs!
For my first project, I went all out with Steampunk!
When I received my pieces I knew I had to use the steampunk parts first. I love the chipboard assortment that Gina's has to offer; so much to choose from!

"Fantastic Journey"

The substrate here is an upcycled jewelry box. Perfect to showcase Gina's steampunk elements!
For my gears, I coated them with embossing powder and then layer and layers of paint for a grungy, rusty look.

With the Steampunk card stock doily set, I used embossing paste through a gears stencil over areas on the doilies. When dry, first I added more color to the embossed areas, then I cut and molded the doilies onto areas of the box using gel paste.

Next for my Steampunk lady, I used two different sizes of the dressforms cut and fitted to make her cage dress. She also has on a corset from the Dressforms set as well as Gina's Steampunk Wings.
Behind her in the box there is more of the Steampunk doily as well as FANTASTIC from the Word Ribbon 3 Set.

Gears Calendar

Today I am sharing with you a calendar I altered. All of the pieces were painted with black acrylic paint. I lightly sanded the wood on the front and then layered card stock intricate steampunk dollies, adhering them with the black paint.

I layered several of the intricate doilies to create the photo mat. The top one was painted black.
The paper used was Die Cuts With a View.
Two papers from the stack that coordinated were used to create the back drop
for the months and numbers.
For the back of the calendar I painted on a textured gears sheet.
The back storage unit holds the extra months and days.
I attached the intricate doilies to the outside of the box with mod podge.

Dressform by Guest Designer Heather!

Hi everyone Heather here !!! I love Gina’s Dress Form. It was so much fun to work with.
The dressform and stand are covered in paper from The Paper Studio ( Haberdashery).
I painted one of Gina’s steampunk doilies with Rose Folk Art metallic paint and placed that behind one of Gina’s geared butterfly’s that I coated with viva rusty paper. Now if gears are not your thing, Gina has some great alternatives in her shop! For the doily you could use one from Cardstock Doily Set 1, Cardstock Doily Set Intricates, or Doily Set 8 Inch. Your butterfly options would be the Butterflies & Dragonflies or the Wood Wall Art.

I decided to deck her out with lace, bling and flowers from my stash. You can add as little or as much to her as you wish!

Altered Art Journal Cover

Hello to all you amazing crafters. How is your weekend going so far?
Mine will be full of some crafty fun. I have been wanting to create some art journal covers and thought this would be a fun place to start. I see so many amazing inspirational pieces online and I decided to give this one a go.
My cover got some gesso, a little stenciling with modeling paste, and layer papers.
I covered all my chipboard pieces with gesso and then went to town on the cover with sprays.
I also buffed a little Inka Gold on top of the chipboard pieces to finish off the cover for a bit of shine..

Altered Bottle by Guest DT Heather

Hello friends, Heather here today with my altered fairy bottle.

I  altered this bottle first with silver foil tape that I embossed with an embossing folder and then applied it to the bottle and added all of Gina's wonderful products to accent the bottle.

Here is a close up of one of the dressforms from the dressform mini set.

I also used the same metal foil technique on the leaves you see in the photos above.

...And finally, here is my lovely fairy resting at the top of the bottle with a glittery gold tones to add to the metallic look of the bottle.
I hope you enjoyed visiting my fairy resting place!
Heather :)

Steampunk Canvas by Lynne

Hi! This is Lynne with an 8x10 canvas featuring lots of Gina's chipboard goodies!

I started off  Mod Podging some crumpled tissue paper onto the canvas then added texture paste, acrylic paint and mist. I couldn't get the colors quite right so I ran to my local scrapbook store, where my lovely friend Marie set me up with a package of gelatos, which helped me get the  background I had in mind. The chippies were treated with a variety of materials; the balloon and chain were done with aged copper embossing powder, which really brought out the awesome shapes of the pieces.

I just love this combination of chain and gears, it's so steampunk-y cool!

For a more grungy look, I used distress embossing powder on the gears.

These great chipboard pieces inspired me to finally cut into the steampunk paper that I had been hoarding forever, and make a little something for my scrap room door, hurray!
Thanks for the visit and have an awesomely creative day!

Composition Boxes by Deann and Dianna with Kitty's Scrap Post

Hi Crafty Friends!   Lots of fun to share today.  We have two team members on the blog, both sharing our August Composition Boxes, both members chose a Halloween theme, and both members used the O' Halloween digital scrap papers from Kitty's Scrap Post.  Let's see how different they are!  First up is Deann.

Good morning, Deann here with an awesome Halloween project..
I used the Composition Box and Halloween paper from Kitty's Scrap Post.
This is the Composition Box, I chose the 31 to use with the O'Halloween Paper Set from KSP.
I used the Gothic Chandeliers, I decided to cut it in half and paint it black with white high lights
For the box with the 31 in it, I decided to add a picket fence.I inked the edges with Black soot distress ink.

Bonus Project :)
More of the Halloween KSP Paper

I love all of the tags that come with the Halloween paper so I did another project to use them up.
Its a double pocket made out of orange cardstock.

Next up is Dianna with her version of our Composition Box.

Hello Dianna here, for my take on Gina's Designs Composition Box and cross-promotion with Kitty's Scrap Post.  I used mine to pay tribute to one of my favorite holidays Halloween. All the paper used is from Kitty's Scrap Post's O'Halloween.  I painted the composition box, interior boxes, witch, sign post and the thirty-one with black gesso.

The witch was from Gina's Designs Vintage Ladies Silhouettes Set.  I printed the O'Halloween from Kitty's Scrap Post and misted the back of the paper with water, this allowed the paper to be easily folded. To get an even blending of the skirt and bustle I used some scrap ribbon.  The witches hat was an old die cut. The moon is from Kitty's Scrap Post O'Halloween glued on a circle from Gina's Designs Spooky Shape Set to give it dimension and inked with Tim Holtz's Distress Ink Black Soot and spritzed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Gold.  The moon was glued onto Gina's Designs Cardstock Doily Set Steampunk.

The Standing Sign was cut from Kitty's Scrap Post O'Halloween and inked with Tim Holtz's Distress Ink Black Soot.  The sign post was spritzed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Pearl.  The Gina's Designs number 31 was glittered with Stickles - Star Dust. The large paper spider web was made with Kitty's Scrap Post O'Halloween and cut from QuicKutz WEB die and spritzed with Tattered Angel Glimmer Mist Pearl.

The top box picture was cut out from Kitty's Scrap Post O'Halloween and the bottom of the picture was cut out to give dimension.  The lady's dress was dotted with Stickles-Platinum and the pumpkin man was outlined with Glossy Accents.  Behind the top box I used three of the Cardstock Doily Set Intricates from Gina's Designs and spritzed two of them with Maya Mist in Lemon Metallic (which is actually an orange color) and one was inked with Tim Hotz Distressed Ink - Black Soot. Around the Cardstock Doily Set Intricates  I used two of the bats from Gina's Designs Spooky Shape Set. The middle box picture was cut out from Kitty's Scrap Post O'Halloween and spritzed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Gold.

The last box has a key from Gina's Designs Wooden Decorative Keys protected by a Sleeping Dragon Baris stamp from Crackerbox Palace.  The fence was cut down from a larger fence from Gina's Designs Beach Shape Set and painted with black gesso. The spider webs from Gina's Designs Spiderweb Shape Set was inked with Tim Holtz Distressed Ink Black Soot and spritzed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Pearl. The Spiders are from Michaels.
