Gears Calendar

Today I am sharing with you a calendar I altered. All of the pieces were painted with black acrylic paint. I lightly sanded the wood on the front and then layered card stock intricate steampunk dollies, adhering them with the black paint.

 I layered several of the intricate doilies to create the photo mat. The top one was painted black.

The paper used was Die Cuts With a View.
Two papers from the stack that coordinated were used to create the back drop
for the months and numbers.

 For the back of the calendar I painted on a textured gears sheet.
 The back storage unit holds the extra months and days.

I attached the intricate doilies to the outside of the box with mod podge.

Streampunk Chest

Happy Friday! I hope you are all well and have some great plans for this weekend. What I have for you today is what I call my yearly steampunk project! On the top, I used the medium dressform from the Dressform and Wings Shape Set. The set come with three different sizes!  By the bottom of the dressform is one of the clock hands from the Clock Hands Shapes Set. The Heart with Gears is coming soon to the store. You can substitute with one of the hearts from the Steampunk Hearts set.

The drawers have one of the plates from the keys and plates set, several gears, and gears that were part of the Steampunk Frame.  Below you can see the smallest size dressform and wings!

This air balloon was part of the Steampunk Frame with the gear on the left added from the Gears Shape Set.

On this side,  you can see I attached part of the Texture Plate - Gears to it.

This is a close-up. I applied different colors of inks to the raw chipboard. In the picture below, you can see that I used the same texture sheet with texture paste. Once the texture paste was dry, I applied different purple inks over the top of it.

My Friendship Bus Layout

Hi there-Lynne here with a layout that's dear to my heart. I found this picture on Facebook and it is so very ME that I just had to use it for a page:

I'm pretty introverted and have a very small circle of friends who mean the world to me, so this layout sums it all up.

I used Stampendous Aged Copper embossing powder on the chain and the gears, dry-embossed the little car, then painted it and rubbed it with black ink, and I painted the hearts and title letters, then embossed them with UTEE.

 The flight of fancy butterfly girl was embossed using ultra thick embossing enamel by Ranger.

The face was done in a mixture of embossing enamel, black, platinum, gold, &  bronze while her hair was done in the gold embossing enamel.

Halloween Steampunk Hat by Deann and Fall layout by Donna

Hello Friends!  We have two designers sharing projects today, both projects celebrating the upcoming Autumn months.  First up is Deann.

Good morning Deann here with a Gina's Designs project.  Today I'm sharing a Steampunk hat.

 I used Gina's Texture Sheet Gears as a stencil to get the Gears onto the hat. I plan on making a photo tutorial soon, to show how I acheived the effect.

 I also used lots of chipboard shapes from the Gears Shape Set. To get the rusted look, I used the Distress paint dabber in Expresso, I dabbed it all over the gear, leaving some of the raw chipboard showing, let it dry and then rubbed Vintage photo Distress Ink all over it. 

I applied the same rusting technique to the Clock Hands.

This was so much fun to make! I can't wait for Halloween to get here so I can display it on my fireplace mantle! Thanks for looking and I hope I inspired you to get your Steampunk on :)

Next up is Donna with a 12 x 12 layout also representing the colors of Autumn.

Hi, it's Donna! Today I am sharing a Fall layout using several pieces of Gina's chipboard flourishes.  There are several beautiful sets to choose from! I love to use them to create the feel of movement on the page.

I painted the flourishes with gesso, and then with a mixture of Shimmerz texture paint (arti choked) and Tattered Angels glimmer paint (palm leaf). I lightly sprayed Ranger color wash spray mist (meadow) on top.

The words are from the Words & Phrases 2 set, and painted with brown crackle paint.

First up today we have a gorgeous textural mixed media layout by Melissa.

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a layout using Gina's Designs Lasercuts.

I have scrapped a photo of a cousin visiting from Sweden, his girlfriend, and my Father-in-Law.

On this layout, I used texture paste on one of our texture sheets, using it as a stencil.  I painted the raised areas with silk acrylics, and outlined them with a gel pen.  On the gears chipboard I painted with gesso, followed by copper pigment ink, gold lumieres, a bit of Vintaj patina, and more lumieres in blue.  I put a layer of  Utee over everything, and rubbed a little gold perfect pearls on the raised areas.

There are a few pieces of bamboo leaves that I painted with gesso, chalk ink, and silk acrylic. I coated the surface with magic medium, and I brushed a little deco paint pen on.  For the crow at the bottom left, I used gesso, texture paste for feathers, and black acrylic paint.  I coated it with glossy accents, and I rubbed on a few colors of jaquard mica powders.  For the honeycomb at the upper left, I used gesso, and glossy accents.  While the glue was wet I poured on embossing powder. I didn't follow with a heat gun, preferring the way it looked dry.  Thanks for looking!

Next up is Heidi with a fun and unusual graduation themed project.

 Hello all my friends.  Today is kind of a sad day for me as this will be my last post for Gina's Designs.  I have really enjoyed this team as the product is something different than what I was used to using, very nice quality and very versatile as well.  And most of all, Gina is such a generous owner and is eager to work with the design team to let them give ideas and design things with her.  So I will miss this team.....  but will surely check back and see how everyone is doing!  

  So on to the project which is a graduation  card box.  I had been seeing these with flowers and my first thought was to use the graduation set which is a set that I had asked Gina to design for us and then Heidi's stars, which I designed and Gina put into work for me (and I adore them!).  I did this one in Red and Black for my son's graduation as these are his school colors.  The graduation items I spray painted and the stars I used some Adirondack paint.  

Here is a closer picture of the box using the graduation hat and a little stickles on the tassle!  I also added a few little twirlies that are just cardstock rolled around a pencil- I thought it was cute to add the little extra fillers.

Altered Shadowbox Frame in a Steampunk Theme by Nancy

Hi Everyone, Nancy here!  Today I'm sharing an altered shadowbox frame that began as a thrift store find.  The frame was solid wood and painted black,  and there was glass inside.  I removed the glass and the backing and the fun began!

 I left the black paint alone and painted a thin coat of metallic brass over it.  Since the outside of the frame measured 12 x 12, I thought it would be fun to lay one of our texture sheets (in this case the gears style) over the entire frame.  I simply cut out the center, used matte Mod Podge to adhere the texture sheet to the frame, and then painted it with white gesso.  The rest was just spraying some various colors of ink sprays until I got the look I wanted.  

I painted the butterfly of gears with Folk Art acrylics and added some dimensional pearls.  The stacked hot air balloon was painted lightly with gesso, stamped with script and embossed.  The waterworks frame was embossed in copper.  The steampunk lady was embossed with script, edges inked with Prima chalk inks, and the gears with various metal colored embossing powders.  The rolled roses were created with a die and papers from my scraps.  The background paper is by Mambi, and I added some sprays, yellow gelatos, and a little texture paste and stenciling.  Thanks for looking!

Hi , Melissa here with 3 ATCs using Gina's Designs Lasercuts. I painted the cardstock doilies with lumieres and stickles. I think these images from an old calendar are very pretty, and it wasn't hard to find items from Gina's that went with them. I had fun decorating these with embellies I've collected over time.

Next up is Shanna with a gorgeous altered hat box with a feminine steampunk flair.

Hey everyone Shanna here, and I am excited to share this project with you!  I have had this box sitting around waiting for attention and it finally came to me what to do with her.  I gave her a good painting, a mix of Ranger Ink and Tattered Angels paint.

Then after she got her paint job Gina's Designs Texture Sheet - Gears  got its gold acrylic paint job with some heat gun for added texture. I happened to rub some Lumiere Halo Green paint on a couple places too for an added touch of something.

 I used the filigree, some of the flowers, and the lace from CraftSupplies1 to finish off the box. 

I hope you like her as much as I do, she is a little bit of a treasure.
