Altered Embroidery Hoop by Kim

 Good morning friends! Today I would like to share my altered embroidery hoop with you. I have had this idea for a while and finally got to bring it to life!  I started off by painting the hoop white and adding some gorgeous beaded lace around the edge. The back piece is some Bo Bunny paper I had in my stash. I layered sprays, stencils and stamps to give it a grungy feel.

 The butterfly of gears is one of my all time favorite pieces of Gina's! I first painted it and then used some rust Gilders Paste over it. I then used my script stamp on top.  I added a Prima junkyard finding lamp for the center of the body.

 I did the same basic technique for the Chain Frame, but used Silver Gilder's Paste this time and some fine black embossing powder to finish it off.

I layered on some metal, flowers and used some old paint brushes I had as well. This gives those old bushes that you would normal toss out a second lease on life. I added some paint and stamp to them as well to pick up on the background of the piece.

Memory Box by Kim and a Canvas by Shanna

Hello Crafty Friends!  Today we have two awesome projects to share.  First up is Kim with one of our Memory Boxes.  These 5 x 7 Boxes come in several styles and can be found in the Altered Art section of the store.

Hello and happy Friday friends! Today I would like to share with you my graffiti inspired memory box. I had a lot of fun with this and I hope the friend it is going to will be just as happy with it as I am. Gina has a great selection of these 5 x 7 boxes. This one was a custom order for me, but you can get any of the ATC Shrines in a 5 x 7 size. Just email Gina and ask!

I used a simple paint technique on the box itself then covered it with some Kaisercraft basecoat paper. I love this paper as it looks like brick walls.  This was the beginning of my graffiti look.

Above here you can see the top of the box. I have used one of the stackable labels from Gina's and some sticker words on top of it. I painted the label a soft blue and then distressed it with some Prima chalk ink.

On the back, sides and inside of the box I did a lot of mixed media work. I used various stencils and stamps to make it have a very urban feel. You can also see at the top right corner I have added one of Gina's Steampunk doilies and a metal hinge on the side as well.

 The new chain and gear frames are so much fun to work with. I embossed them with some platinum embossing powder. In the background you can see more of my texture paste in script and boxed letters.

Next up is Shanna with an amazing and colorful canvas to share.

Good morning to everyone, it's Shanna here. I am so excited today to share a new canvas I created. 

I love love love anything Native American themed and I thought the Feathers Shape Set was perfect to go with this Prima stencil I used!

First I used the stencil with some modeling paste, then I used a water color pencil to color in the hair. I painted my feathers with Distress Paint and added patina to the canvas. I am lucky to have some alpha stickers I could use too. After all that and the feathers were glued I still needed something else to make it pop. I went through several flowers but then I found that the perfect touch was something metallic.

Hi! This is Lynne with an 8x10 canvas featuring lots of Gina's chipboard goodies!

 

I started off  Mod Podging some crumpled tissue paper onto the canvas then added texture paste, acrylic paint and mist. I couldn't get the colors quite right so I ran to my local scrapbook store, where my lovely friend Marie set me up with a package of gelatos, which helped me get the  background I had in mind. The chippies were treated with a variety of materials; the balloon and chain were done with aged copper embossing powder, which really brought out the awesome shapes of the pieces.

 

 I just love this combination of chain and gears, it's so steampunk-y cool!

        For a more grungy look, I used distress embossing powder on the gears.

 

These great chipboard pieces inspired me to finally cut into the steampunk paper that I had been hoarding forever, and make a little something for my scrap room door, hurray!

Family Heritage Photo Frame by Kim and a Patriotic Layout by Donna

First up today is Kim, with an awesome heritage styled altered frame.

Hi Friends! Today I would like to share with you my Family Heritage Picture Frame. I have this photo showing four generations of my family, with my Great-Great Grandparents in the front, my Great Grandmother in the back left and my Grandmother in the back right. The baby in the photo is my mother. This was taken around 1934.  I wanted to feature this photo and Gina had such lovely pieces for me to use to make this special frame, as this is the only family photo like this that I have.

 The Art Deco Borders & Corners were perfect to add to this frame to give it the heritage style that I was going for. I embossed them with some Stampendous Shabby Ivory embossing powder.  Below you can also see one of the wooden charms from Gina's Store that I have used.  I thought that the word "memories" was apropos.

Below I have used the antique bike, and keeping in the color theme embossed it with more of the shabby white embossing powder, with just a touch of some gold to make it stand out.

Finally, here is another shot of the art deco corners around the photo and on the top of the frame you can see the border. I just love how they have framed out my special photo.

Next up is Donna, one of our new DT members!

Hi everyone,  I'm Donna, and this is my first project for Gina's Designs! I am so grateful for this opportunity to create beautiful things!  I am really impressed with the quality of her products, and all the beautiful shapes, home decor and storage items.

Now on to my first project.  Is everyone excited about the upcoming fireworks?  We live next to a high school that puts on an amazing fireworks show each 4th of July, so we are looking forward to that again tomorrow night!  We just sit in the front yard...everyone is invited! Bring a lawn chair!

I love items that frame a photo. I used the chain and gears frames for both photos. I simply cut off the gears for this layout. I painted the frames with gesso, and used fired brick crackle paint. Not so much for the crackle, but because of the color/texture. I dabbed some red ink to brighten up the color. I did the same thing on the two stackable labels under the bow. I debated about leaving the chipboard natural. I love that look and I think it would have worked well with the burlap and the bow.
