July Facebook Challenge

July Facebook Challenge
~ RECYCLE ~
Join us at Gina's Designs Craft Group for our next challenge. You could win a $10.00 gift card for Gina's store. All you need to do is join the group to participate, its free!!
I used the Beach Shape Set to make my 10x10 canvas.
The recycled part? The soap box!
My beach hut was made from the soap box!  I will be doing a live Youtube class to show how it was made. (Date will be announced soon)
The background of the canvas was made with Twinkling H2Os from ColourArte
I cut shavings with an X-acto knife from the cake and then mixed it with water in a water mister to make a wash. It worked great!
To get the rust look on the roof, I used brown chalk paint and while the paint was wet I sprinkled it with allspice.  You could also use cinnamon as well or any type of powdered brown spice works great. When I dried it with my heat gun, my craftroom smelled like a bakery! The effect is fantastic it looks like an old rusty tin roof.
 Thanks for stopping by !

Door Owl by Dianna And A Fun Video with Deann

Happy Friday everyone!  Today we have two fun items up for your perusal. First up is Deann who has been working hard on our live classes on UStream and YouTube.  Yesterday, Deann did one of her classes on our YouTube Channel, making a mini desk organizer. We have posted it below for you to see.  Feel free to check out our YouTube and don't forget to subscribe!

Next up is Dianna, with a very fun project to share.

Hi everyone! Dianna here with a new Gina's Designs product, a Door Owl!
The owl is 14-1/2 by 11-1/2 not counting the branch, so she is on the large size.  She comes dark brown wood which I spray painted white.  Note:  do not let the guys who work with you stack the damp pieces of wood together (they were trying to be helpful :)  that is what caused the dark splotches).
I then painted the Emma the Owl (yes I named her) with a teal glitter spray and papered the wings with a checked pattern paper from Joann's.  I used a coordinating a striped paper on the "B".  The B is for our last name.  Not liking the lack of depth from the glitter paint, I then added low lights and highlights with Stickles.  I also used a white paint pen to cover the dark marks from the earlier mentioned stacking of damp pieces
Then I punched out 60 -  3/4 inch circle and 60 - 1 inch circles from 4 coordinating papers.  I did this while watching TV.   It does not seem that much from the photo but believe me when I say that it took a while.
I glued the wings on first with Beacons 3-in-1 because I am hanging this on my door and want it to hold up to the slamming of the door that my 16-year-old son does when he leaves.  He simply does not understand how to close a door without slamming.  I distressed each circle with ink, then proceeded to glue all of the circles using the wings as a marker.
And I glued.
Finally I finished gluing those circles!.
I used burlap for the nose and branch and distressed the edges.  The eyes are 1-1/4 inch circle punch with a 3/4 inch circle punch out of brown.  The leaves are coordinating green paper.  Burlap twine was used to hang Emma the Owl.

Good morning. We have a new challenge starting today for Gina's Designs Craft Group. The group is FREE to join. To be a member of the group, just follow the link above!
This month the challenge is-
 Anything Under the Rainbow.
Anything colorful will work: a card, ATC, layout, off the page - whatever you would like :)
All you need to do is add a photo of your project to the Facebook group.
Winner of the challenge will receive a $10.00 gift certificate from Gina's Designs.
For my project I used the Page Frame Photo Reel! I transformed the reel into a color wheel by using sprays, flowers and butterflies in the same colors. Flourishes were added that I painted gold and cut into smaller sizes. I used only the top layers of the Layered Flourish-Renata and the Layered Flourish-Chloe in the flower clusters.

Good luck!

I used one of the word stackers - Inspire
After adding the flowers and trim, I spattered white and black paint all over the canvas.

Brush Caddy

Good morning crafty people! I am determined to organize my craft room! So, I started with the brush caddy from Gina.
I painted the handle and inside with rust chalk paint. I added texture to the handle with the Texture Sheet- Diamonds. I used it as a stencil with texture paste.

For the caddy, I covered it with vintage book paper. I used distress ink on the edges and then covered the paper with clear wax from Folkart.

To decorate, I added pieces of the Diamond Texture Plate and in the corners I added  the Art Deco Corner Set.
Have a crafty day!

February Challenge for Gina's Designs Craft Group: My Heart Belongs To...

Good morning, Deann here with hearts for our challenge on
Gina's Designs Craft Group on Facebook. This months theme will be hearts. Anything with a heart on it will be good :) Here are two samples that I made.
The first one is covered in roses, lots of roses!

I added the heartbeat from the Heartbeat Set.
The second heart is all Steampunk!

I glued a piece of corrugated cardboard to the center of a chipboard heart. After that, I glued gears around the heart. I painted everything with chalk paint and then antiqued it. I painted the dragonfly rust and rubbed a little blue and white on the wings.
Stop over and check out all the fun on the Facebook group!

Winter Tag with The Robin's Nest paper

Good morning Crafty People!
Today I have a winter tag using Gina's X-large tag for the base.
I started by covering the tag with paper from The Robin's Nest.
I then inked and painted three pine trees from the Pine Tree Shape Set. I glued the largest pine tree to the tag. The two smaller trees are elevated at two different heights.
To finish the tag, I inked a deer with brown distress ink, and added white gesso to look like snow.
Thanks for looking at my tag :)

I added spacers between all of the snowflakes and inked the edges of the mitten with blue ink.

For this mitten, I inked the edges with blue ink. I started the stack with a circle of striped paper, then  a spacer, snowflake, spacer, circle of paper, candy cane and flowers.
