Today is my last official post for Gina's Designs. My year tenure on the Design Team has come to an end. The products that were released this past year are amazing. The selection and quality for the price is unmatched. The online store has chipboard shapes, albums, and my favorite - the "off the page" selection - which includes everything from frames, trays, shadow boxes, books, clocks, storage and so much more.

Today I am sharing a wall hanging kit that I turned into a canvas. The kit comes with the corrugated board, chipboard words, hearts, and keys. The only items in the kit that I didn't use were two pieces of chipboard background, since I was using the canvas I didn't need them.

The chipboard shapes are painted with gelatos and distressed crackle paint. The chipboard words are colored with Mister Huey's color mist and accented with Tim Holtz distressed paint.

Gingerbread House Mini Album and Family

Dawn Rene here today to share a Gingerbread House Mini Album from Gina's Designs. It is a non-traditional gingerbread house made with a pastel color palette. I decorated the inside of the album with the Gingerbread Family Shape Set. Aren't they so adorable? All the pieces are painted with gesso and Tim Holtz distress paints. The "snow" is Shaved Ice.

Mixed Media Journal

Hello! Dawn Rene here to share a mixed media journal that I created with Tim Holtz Eclectic Elements fabric and Gina's Designs chipboard shapes - Hinge Straps Shape Set, Parisian Shape Set, Skeleton Clocks, Small Fence and Gate Set, 10 Words.

The fabric, chipboard shapes, and paper flowers were colored with Dylusions Ink Spray and Gelatos. The bookmark is ribbon with antique gold heart charms on both ends. I love the texture that chipboard shapes bring to a project.....

Mixed Media - Moment In Time

Hello! Dawn Rene here with you to share a mixed media canvas I made for Gina's Designs with lots of their incredible chipboard shapes!

The canvas size is 12" x 12" and it was designed around the theme "Life's Just a Moment In Time."

Here is a brief tutorial....

1. Cover the canvas with gesso

2. Color the canvas with Faber-Castell Gelatos using a watercolor brush

     

3. Add some texture with molding paste and stencils

     

4. Paint the chipboard shapes with gesso (I didn't paint all of them with gesso - Paint work well on gesso, stains and sprays not so much)

5. Let everything dry!

6. Layer on all the chipboard shapes and embellishments (this is my favorite part)

     

7. Spray and paint away until you get get it the way you like it

Winter Home Decor

Dawn Rene here with you to share an off the page project. It is like a shadow box - shallower and with no dividers. It is called a Doily Box. The particular set I used was titled "Noel" and is 10" x 10" x 1". It comes with nine doilies and various Christmas chipboard shapes. However, I changed it up and replaced some of the chipboard shapes with other items sold in the store. There are other Doily Box sets available too - like Love, Fall, Wedding, and Baby.

I covered the box (inside and out) with patterned papers from Authentique. The chipboard shapes were colored with Tim Holtz distressed paints or CTMH inks. Then I covered many of the shapes with thick white embossing enamel. I love thick embossing enamel right now - it adds texture and sparkle to any project. I think it works perfect on this project because it looks like snow or ice!

Dog Bone Mini Album

Hello! Dawn Rene with you today to share a fun mini album I made with Gina's Designs Dog Bone Mini Album. The mini album is chipboard and cut in a dog bone shape. It has 6 pages and is 4 3/4 inches tall by 7 1/2 inches wide. I decorated the album with chipboard shapes from Gina's Designs - Miniature Bookplates Shape Set and Words and Phrases 1.

Here is a quick run down of how I assembled the album!

1. Covered the chipboard mini album pages with patterned papers

2. Filed edges of the album with an nail file and distressed with ink

3. Punched holes for the binder rings and added eyelets for reinforcement

4. Added some color and texture with Dylusions ink spray and stencils

5. Painted the name tags with distressed paints

6. Colored the words and name plates with Dylusions ink spray and shimmer mist

7. Add pictures and embellished with ribbons, buttons, and stickers!

Live Life Banner with Dawn Rene

Hello! Dawn Rene here with you today to share a banner I made with a kit from Gina's Designs. The banner is custom made with any words or phrases. I selected the phrase "Live Life." This particular set came with pre-cut rosettes made with book pages, the corrugated background triangles, and the chipboard letters. You get to decorate them!

I decorated mine with gesso, distressed inks, glitter mist, and Pion Designs paper. Each shape is tied together with lace.

Fall Layout by Dawn Rene

Hello!  Dawn Rene here today to share a fall layout made with chipboard shapes from Gina's Designs. I am scrapbooking a weekend in the mountains with the kids from a couple Thanksgiving's ago. Doggie's Dream Tray by Dawn Rene

Last week you saw the cat version and this week Dawn Rene is here to share her off the page creation with Gina's Designs photo tray called Doggie's Dream. They have other trays too - cats, gears, trains and more! I love decorating trays and shadow boxes.

We recently added a new member to our family, Cookie. She is a teacup Morkie. But the highlight of the tray are the beautiful doilies. They are cardstock which I painted with Tim Holtz distressed paints. The doilies are so intricate - they are beautiful. I took two doilies and crinkled them to make my version of a flower to add some dimension.
