Dream Banner

Hello everyone.  Barbara here again with my second project as Gina's Designs guest designer for June.  I have to admit, I am a chipboard freak, and Gina's laser cut chipboard fits the bill perfectly.  They have so many beautiful shapes to choose from, making it so easy to create some fun and beautiful projects. 

I decided to make a banner with this fabulous Dream Banner kit from Gina's Designs.

Lay out your dovetail banner shapes onto the printed paper, right side up, and trace around each shape.  Cut out and adhere paper to the banner.  Edge each piece with white gesso, and dab some gesso onto the front with a paper towel for a shabby look.

Edge each scalloped banner with white gesso and let dry.  Paint over the gessoed edges with Coral Blush Acrylic Paint, then Rustic Rose Silks Acrylic Glaze.  When dry, add Honey Amber and Nutmeg Silks Acrylic Glaze over that and wipe away excess with damp paper towel or baby wipe.  This will give it a very warm, vintage feel.

Paint each of the miniature shapes with Forest Green Silks.  Set aside to dry.

 Coat each letter (D R E A M) with white gesso, let dry before embossing with Polka Dots embossing folder.  Paint the letters with the same colors as used on the the scalloped banners.  When dry, use your finger to apply the Gold metallic rub-on to the high spots on each letter.  Distress the edges of the letters and the scalloped banners with Black Soot distress ink.

Add strips of ivory lace to the bottom of each scalloped banner.  Adhere dovetail banner to scalloped banner with foam tape.

Distress each doily with Dried Marigold distress ink and a blending tool.  Adhere doilies to each of the banners, as shown.  I had to cut one large doily down so it would fit onto my banner.  Save the outer doily piece for another project.

 

 Glue one wooden bead to the back of each banner.  Cut a piece of the gold cord to approximately 24", thread through the wooden beads, adding a decorative button between each banner and on each end of the cord.  

 

 Adhere flowers to banner in a pleasing arrangement.

Add a wash of Rustic Rose Silks with lots of water to a piece of cheesecloth, let dry.  Cut into tiny pieces and add to banner beneath the flowers.

RubberMoon Art Stamps and Gina's Designs

Gina here today, with a fun cross promotional project.  This month Gina's Designs is proud to promote RubberMoon Art Stamps.  I am lucky enough to have met and spent some time with Kristen Powers, the artist behind this great company.  Kristen, or KaePea as she is known in the crafting world, is full of energy and ideas.  Some of the products we will be highlighting this month are an idea of hers that combines rubber stamps with chipboard in a fun, fantastic way.

My project today is a banner for my office.  I used the "follow your dream" stamp from RubberMoon along with the matching "Stamping Blankz".  These chip pieces are a great way to add dimension and sturdiness to your stamped designs.

I coated my blankz with white gesso and stamped with pigment ink, then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  RubberMoon stamps are heat pressed deep red rubber and give a great impression.  I just love all the detail in this banner piece.

I added some rosettes in my favorite colors and some beads from my stash.  Everything was threaded onto 1/16 inch white satin ribbon.  The rosettes I attached by gluing them to the ribbon using a second punched circle on the back.  It looks great hung above my desk and really adds some whimsey to my office area.

Today we have two projects to share.  First up is Nancy with one of our fun altered art pieces.  This piece can be decorated to suit any number of themes.

Hi everyone, Nancy here!  I had so much fun decorating this Stage.  I love anything to do with the sky, stars, moon and all things celestial, so I thought I'd call my creation "Reach For The Stars".  I added lots of textures to this piece with chunky glitter, glass beads, bead gel, shabby embossing powders, mica, gilder's paste, etc.

Shabby Chic Vintage Create Banner by Kim

Hello Everyone, Kim here today to share my latest project with you! Now that the Holiday Season is upon us, its time to get thinking of some unique gift giving ideas, and this Create Banner by Gina's Designs is definitely one of them!

It was so much fun to make this, and for someone who is creative and crafty this would make a great banner to hang in a craft room or office.

The banner itself comes with 3 parts to each piece, the back piece, the top piece and the individual letters. I have kept the banner in a lovely shabby chic style and used some antique lace, and vintage material to create the flowers you see at each end of the banner.

Below here you can see some of Gina's other pieces I have added here the Steampunk Dressform, which I painted and embossed, keeping in the same vintage colour tones.

Here you can see the letter R, which has the Fashion Cameo in the corner there, which I have altered with some homemade texture paste, paint and the background is stamped and embossed with a script stamp. You also can see a close up of the vintage doily and the antique laces at the top and sides, which are from my stash.

I have used another Fashion Cameo and perfume bottle from Gina's on the letter E, the Perfume bottle is from the Parisian Shape Set.

 The last letter in create, is this E, and again, I have used a few more pieces of the great chipboard pieces from Gina's. The Eiffel Tower you can see done in the same style as the Dressforms. With paint and embossing powder, you can really change the look of these pieces. The Fleur De Lis at the top centre here is painted white and embossed with white glitter. I have also added one of my handmade flowers, the rolled rose on the right hand side, with a little paper flower in the middle.

 Here is another of my handmade flowers, I have used some vintage muslin to create this and then added a flower to the centre and some seam binding in a beige tone. There is one of these flowers at each end of the banner

Here is a close up of one of the Fashion Cameos I altered, I really love these, they really add a vintage flair to a project.

 

 Below here is one of Gina's Words and Phrases 1 Set, the word Dream is covered in some texture paste and I used some distress ink around the edges and added a bit of glitter to it to make it shine.

 And finally here is another of my favorite pieces, it is the Penny Farthing, Antique Bike set, I really love these bikes they are so much fun to alter, and I have continued the same look on this with the paint and embossing powder.

I really hope you like my project today, it was a lot of fun to "create" and I am sending this off as a gift to a friend, so I am excited for her to receive it.  Thanks for stopping by!

SPOOKY!!!

Hi everyone Simply Monica here with a altered Halloween banner from Gina's Designs.  This was a super fun project to make.  I love the corrugated cardboard and you get precut rosettes made form newspaper that I misted and inked.  I added a bunch of different elements on this project too.

 here I used some burlap and mesh ribbon from May Arts, feathers, and some flowers

 I used a Steampunk doily from Gina'a and a Gears Corner Border piece as well

Hey everyone Shanna here with a fun project. Gina's Designs has these awesome banner kits coming soon and guess what... You get o pick the word(s) for the banner. Is that not fun??? Each of the team got to pick their word and some have shared their banners already so check out some of the team members blogs to see their take on altering this fun piece.

So for my word I chose Halloween since it is my daughters birthday we like to really have fun and I though this would be fun to have hanging around for her to practice her letters and spelling. 

First up here is the whole banner looks tiny in the photo huh???

Here are some close ups. 

Don't you love this ghost? I painted him with some picket fence crackle paint. 

The bat I painted with black acrylic paint and then and then covered it with some crackle accents. 

The pumpkin I painted with some Tattered Angels Glam. 

So a little insight on how I did this.... I used some Tattered Angels Glaze and sprayed the corrugated board with Lindy sprays. For the chippie letters I gave them a layer of gesso and then painted them with some Tattered Glam. Just have fun and let go. Hope you found a little inspiration to go get some spooky fun chippies and get crafty!
