Flying Heart Wall Hanging with Marjolaine

Hello, Marjolaine  here today with the really cool wall hanging from Gina's Designs. I'm pretty sure this is my all time favorite Gina project!

The kit comes with plenty of pieces to make it beautiful but I wanted to pile on the chippies so I added some steampunk pieces as well as these amazing doilies. Aren't those fabulous?! The intricate details of Gina's pieces are what continues to amaze me. I used a variety of mediums of this project. Everything from gesso to Gelatos, to crackle paint and Big Brush Markers.

Hello Everyone!
Veronica here, with a fun project that I made at one of our CYI classes at For Keepsakes.
Our Project was to alter an old Cricket cartridge box, and I am so happy with how mine turned out!

Using Die Cuts from Gina's Designs.....and I'm excited to say this is my first post as being on her design team...I used Dies from her Steampunk shape set #2, and  I also used one of her die cut words "Inspire".
We all could use a little Inspiration from time to time right?

I papered the box with Graphic 45's Ty.pog.ra.phy.  I have always loved Graphic 45, and use it a lot!

I'm also always on the hunt for anything Vintage or old. I picked up these little word blocks at a garage sale this past September. I think they might have belong to an old board game at one time.

Gina's Gear and Key add a nice touch to the little book I made to go in side the box, all tied with just a simple twine.

I hope you enjoyed taking a look at my first project for Gina's Designs. I am excited to be a part of her team, and have felt so very welcomed by Gina and the rest of the team!

Parisian Book Box

Good morning peeps!  Crafting Marfa here to bring you another DT for Gina's Designs project.  This is one of my favorites so far!  I know, I know..where is the usual tutorial?  Well, this week I am switching it with Thursday.  Instead, today I want to share with my Parisian Book Box.

I heart this box!  It is big, it is roomy and it actually looks like a book!  This is a hardboard book by Gina's Designs.  I wanted to do a very Parisian theme.  Something that I could put out on display as well as making it functional.  I store my dies in there now.  Everything that you see here, except for the flowers and the trim, are all chipboard shapes from Gina's Designs.  I used an awesome gold paint pen to outline everything.  The paint is inexpensive acrylic.  I added Crackle Accents to almost everything.  I am obsessed with Crackle Accents :-)  Oh, and do NOT forget the tiny bird!  Do you see it?  Its on the the I of Paris.

Damsel in Distress

Kathi here today to share a new layout with you. 

I started this layout by prepping the canvas with white gesso. After the canvas dried I took the brick wall and used it has a mask. I placed it on the left side of the layout. Spreading spackling with a cake spatula, I carefully removed the brick wall to allow it to dry. I then washed the brick wall in order to use it again on a second project.  Repeated the process on the right side of the layout using the chicken wire. On the right I only went up half way with the speckling then spaying the top half with lindy stamp gang spray. Then carefully removing the stencil to wash it in order to use it again.

I then arranged the paper, distressing the edges, the paper was glued down using Mod Podge. I placed the 8” dollies under the photo mat.   I then cut a gear dollies in half and tucked them into the side & the bottom of the paper. 

On Laser Chipboard, the boarder stick & some of the gears, were painted with black distress paint. The wrought iron fence & the rest of gears Black UTEE was used. On the Eiffel tower gold UtEE was used then distressed with metallic rub on. 

I placed a border stick in the middle of the Eiffel tower along with a metal Q at the top of the Eiffel tower. 

The flowers were prepped with white gesso and set aside to dry, then they were placed around the photo mat.

I placed the wrought iron fence on top of the chicken wire. Then I placed the Eiffel tower to the left side on top of the brick wall. 

The paper line has a butterfly in the pattern. I took an extra piece of the paper line & cut out the butterfly then placing the butterfly on top of the butterfly on the paper, making the illusion that the butterfly is flying. 

A chandelier was painted with UTEE , a mixture of gold, platinum, black & bronze. I then placed the chandelier above the butterflies.

Paris Theme Shadowbox by Kim

Hello Everyone, Kim here, and today I want to share with you Gina's Paris Theme Shadowbox. I had so much fun with this piece! These themed shadowboxes are great because they are simple to put together and come with lots of fun embellishments to alter as well. These boxes would make great quick gifts to give for birthdays or any occasion.

You can see I have done this in a vintage style and kept the colours in neutral tones of white, cream, taupe and a bit of brown.

I have used the PaperHouse European Travel paper stack on this project, and also mixed it with some vintage music paper from my stash, they went well together and kept it in the vintage neutral tones I was after. Below here you can see I created a skirt for the dress form that comes with this kit, by accordion folding the music paper and attaching it with some vintage seam binding.

I also tore up some of the papers and music notes and distressed them to give an even more shabby vintage feel.

 I used a crackle medium on the outside of the shadowbox and on the top as well, then gave it a spray with Dark Chocolate Truffle from Lindy's Stamp Gang.

For the embellishments, I created this look by using the same spray from Lindys' and then using my Inka Gold I rubbed some of the Old Gold and Old Silver on top of the pieces, it gave them a lovely sheen.

 Here is another of the embellishments you get with the kit, a Fleur de Lis, with the same treatment as the other pieces, I attached a metal key from my stash with some Wild Orchid Craft flowers.

Double Page Scrapbook Layout

Good morning crafty peeps!  Marfa here to bring you a double page layout.  I think that this is the third or fourth time since I started scrapbooking back in 2001 that I've created a double page layout...lol  This layout is extra special for me because these are family members that I will never see again.  They are my dad's uncle, brother and sister.  His sister is still alive, but lives in another country.   The other two people passes away already.  They are old photos from the 80's.  The corner house on the other page is where my aunt lives now, in Cuba.  The other house is where I lived until I was 10 years old.  That's when my parents and I moved to the United States and I've never gone back.  But somewhere in my memories from long, long ago, I remember that place like in a movie, or a dream.  Looking at these photos helps me remember.

Anyway, enough nostalgia...lol  To make this layout I used paper by Webster's Pages and American Crafts.  I also used lots of chipboard by Gina's Designs.  Also, check out the quilled flowers on the bottom left and the top right.  Those are handmade by me.  I've been waiting to use them on just the right layouts.  The colors and the stripes are inspired by the walls and the rocking chairs behind the people.  I don't make it a habit of using red, white and blue together.  The only place where I like that combination of colors in the American flag.  However, somehow I like it in these papers.  I think it is because I also added yellow and green as accent colors.  I painted the chipboard with acrylic paint and then I embossed with them with clear Ultra Thick Embossing Powder.

Freebie Friday Dictionary Page Library Pocket

Vintage book and dictionary pages are wonderful to use in so many projects.  They coordinate with any colors and add an aged look.  This month all our free printables will be created from vintage dictionary pages, with some printers ornaments and typography accents.  Today's freebie is a library pocket with cards and some punch out accents.
