Magic In The Air by Barb Black

Summer is always a mixed bag for me. I can't stand hot temperatures, but I do love some of the pretty aspects of it. Like flowers blooming and winged things flitting about. So, in one of my more "Be Kind to Summer" moments, I was inspired to do the above piece.

I began with a 5 x 7 canvas that I covered in gesso. While still wet, I smooched a piece of iridescent punchinella (also known as sequin waste) into the paint -- the gesso acts as glue as it dries.

After the canvas was dry, I stamped on it with stamps from RubberMoon, using yellow and pink craft ink. I also smeared around some blue StazOn Studio Glaze and gave it a spritz or two of blue irRESISTibles.

I coated the butterfly circle and extra butterfly with blue irRESISTibles and, while still wet, sprinkled on blue glitter and gave them a spritz of white irRESISTibles.

When everything was completely dry, I glued it all together. Now I have a pretty little reminder that Summer, even with the obnoxious heat, is sometimes not so bad at all.

Scribbled Frame Layout

Big hello to all of you in blog-land.
Shanna here with a layout I created with some new colors in my stash.
I played with the Butterfly Scribbled Frame. I colored it with my black Gelato and then after using some embossing ink and Black Soot Distress Embossing Powder.
I love the pop of the black on the chipboard.

I used flowers, stamps, and embossing paste to help embellish the rest of the layout.

I love the dimension of the embossing paste and the looks of the embossing powder on the chipboard. Texture is just amazing isn't it?

Simple Pleasures

Hello friends!  Debbie with you today sharing a summery layout I did with some fabulous Gina's Designs Laser Cuts.  Recently I visited our Botanic Gardens and it always has something to offer as a photo opportunity. I found this beautiful butterfly making it's away around all the beautiful flowers so I snapped a few photos.  I knew this would end up on a layout and I knew Gina's had so many beautiful frame pieces to embellish this photo.
The frame I chose to use is called Scribble Frame Butterfly.  I simply embossed the frame in gold and embossed the dragonflies in copper.  I adhered some seed beads to the body of the butterfly

Family

Hi everyone! Melissa here for Gina's Designs. This is a photo of family in New York meeting my son for the first time.
I think the beautiful chipboard I used worked well with the page. I first prepped the pieces with gesso. The butterfly and flowers that are blue-green are painted with Lindy's Stamp Gang. I  brushed some gold Pearlex powder on the butterfly wings.
The silver flowers are a few layers of Twinkling H20s and  pearlex powders over texture paste. I had made the lines in the wet texture paste with a straight pin. The top coat is silver leaf paint, with a little gold pearlex brushed on. The little fern frond is first green chalk ink with some Utee sprinkled on and heated. I brushed silver Pearlex on, then a little gold leaf paint.
Thanks for looking!

Altered Cigar Box Cross Promotional Project by Kathi

Kathi here to share my last cross promotional project with Craftsupplies1, an altered cigar box.

Using the flat red lace,  I created a handmade flower with a streamer descending from the bottom.  In the center of the flower I have a pearl center and a butterfly resting on the flower.  I placed a stacked flourish off to the left side.  The flower is resting on a large crocheted doily that I received in a swap. I painted the butterfly scribbled frame, and added a photo mat behind it. I placed two metal butterflies from Craftsupplies1 in the lower right corner.

Here is a close up of scribbled butterfly frame, and the butterfly has distressed stickles painted on it.
Here is one of Gina's new stacked flourishes with one layer painted with white gesso and the other with black gesso.
Inside of the lid, I used Gina's textured sheet, painted with white gesso.  Layered on top is a red doily and on top of the doily I placed a dressform and a frame.

After the chipboard pieces were painted,  I distressed the dress form and placed the word love over the bodice along with a flower bunch and a flower cameo. A rose bunch was placed on the lower right which is from Craftsupplies1.
