Sparkly Christmas cards by Lynne

Hi there! The grass here is still green (although the weather people are saying we might see some of the "white stuff" over the next couple days), but I had a glimpse of a white winter wonderland the last day I was in BC last week and was inspired to create snowy-looking elements on my cards...

Since the fussy-cut ornaments on the blue card had silver details on them, I decided to heat-emboss the open heart pieces in silver. The plain heart I primed with gesso then coated with white glue before covering with clear glass glitter top create a snowy heart.

On the grey card I chose a softer look by priming the pieces with gesso then heat-embossing them with white glitter embossing powder (it took two coats to get an evenly sparkly effect).

Both cards look much more snowy and sparkly in real life of course-have some fun playing with glittery products on your chipboard goodies when you create Christmas projects this year-even if you live somewhere tropical you can have a white Christmas! Christmas Elements by Dianna

Hi Everyone, Dianna here with my take on Gina's Designs Facebook Craft Group November Challenge by Deann Moffo McNulty.  The Challenge is to be inspired by a Pinterest Project and I found a Christmas element set that inspired me.  

I used elements from Gina's Stackable Element Set, pink and green owl Christmas paper and punches to create the above elements set.  The top circle is a 2 -1/4 inch punch and the two flags are from the Stackables set.  I simply traced the shape of Gina's Stackables onto the paper and fussy cut.  Gina's Stackables give the elements additional dimension. I used Christmas stamps that I had laying around from last year. All edges were distressed with vintage photo ink.

The tag was created by using a punch and fussy cutting the owl and presents. Gina's Mini Flourishes Bella was colored green with a Copic Marker.  I added Stickles, apple green and blue bling to all of the elements for some more pop. 

Below photo show all of the shapes that are included in Gina's Stackable Element Set. I only used 11 shapes from this set to create my elements, so there are a lot more elements to make.

Hello and happy Tuesday friends! Today I would like to take you to the circus! I had so much fun with Gina's circus shape set, and I have had this in mind to make for quite some time.

As you can see above the set comes with quite a few pieces. I have used the Ferris Wheel on a previous project which you can view HERE.

I was drawn to the animal cage and elephant this time, but I really wanted them to be 3 dimensional. I started off with the cage and cut a back piece, by tracing around the cage. I then cut 2 inch strips for the sides, top and back, using glue and double sided tape to create a 3D look.  I also cut off the wheel of the cage as I wanted to use some wooden spools for the wheels, which I think gave a really fun look to the piece. I papered over the whole thing after giving it a coat of black paint with some touches of silver for a metal look, and added some fun wooden circus embellishments from my stash to the top.

For the inside of the cage, I fussy cut out the lion and added lots of dimensional tape to him to really make him look like he was jumping around in the cage. I added some of the Bella flourish frames to each side, and also used more of the paper, fussy cutting out some clowns and punching circles for the top corners and each of the front wheels.  I topped the cage with one of the Faux Metal Number plates and a couple of pieces of bling.

Next up is the elephant! This was super easy to do, I mixed some black and white paint to get the elephant grey colour, then added some fabric, lace and a lovely rose to her ear. I got out my rosette die and made a circus themed rosette for her to stand on, it worked perfectly!

Her finishing touch was one of the "rings" to preform in, which I again cut from the Graphic 45 paper.  I love how fun this is, and it shows the great versatility of the chipboard to be able to make these pieces 3 dimensional.

I've Got Sunshine - Shadow Box

Hi! Ever get a line from a song stuck in your head and you can't get rid of no matter what? Lynne here with a shadowbox project inspired by one of those lines (some people call it an "earworm" when that happens, but that expression kind of creeps me out. I'm not a huge fan of slithery things!)

I love the sun pieces from the Sweet Summer Shape set and used one of those here. I covered it with coordinating paper and inked the edges. The bird piece was from the Lovebirds Set. I dry-embossed it, then painted and inked it to add dimensional colour.

I loved the sunny colours in the papers I chose, and the fussy-cut butterflies and bright florals added to the theme. The adorable glass squirrels are just a personal touch by "Scrappy Squirrel"!! The cheesecloth made me think of floating clouds and the song lyrics just plain make me happy! Have yourself a happy, sunshiny day, and thanks heaps for stopping by!

Dressform Hang Ups

Gina here with a fun and easy project using the Dressform Hangups.  These pieces make a great base for designing dresses. I have done several of these for my granddaughters to hang in their room.

I started by heat embossing the parts of the hanger that I wanted to appear silver.  I then traced the bodice and straps onto a solid paper.  Once cut out and applied, I added the stamped details and the little flat back bows.

To make the skirt I cut a strip of paper 6 inches by 12 inches.  I stamped a matching pattern on the paper and used a border punch along one edge to create a lacy look.  I sprayed the paper with a little water to make it flexible and glued the paper down at the waist as I created the ruffle.

To add a little interest to the piece I added a flourish and a flower to the skirt.

Hello, everyone! Heather Ideas2come here!!  Today I have altered Gina’s alarm clock.

 

First I embossed the sides with Embossing tinsel, I then painted the rest of the clock with copper metallic paint.  I painted some of Gina’s Flourishes with  a light and dark green.  I placed tiny flowers on the Flourishes.  I also used clock hands that I glittered with black.

Fun ATC Shrine and Coordinating ATC

  Hi there; Lynne here with a fun project. I decorated one of Gina's adorable little ATC shrines and made a coordinating ATC (although I'm thinking the shrine would also make a wonderful little gift box!)

               The design of the shrine reminded me of a window, so I added little tulle "curtains":

I added several fussy-cut images from the paper, which I popped up with foam tape, and also used several pieces from Gina's Mini Flourishes Bella, which I painted, stamped and heat-embossed.

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a layout for Gina's Designs and the Robin's Nest. I think the chipboard  highlights and gives the page some movement.  I like how you can dress up the chipboard with different colors, textures, and bling, or keep it simple, like I did.  I just put on gesso, and topped it with glossy accents.  I did sprinkle a little glitter glass on.  I sponge on the gesso with a wedge of cosmetic sponge. It's easier and faster than painting it on.

Santa's Balloon Ride by Dianna

Hi everyone, I hope that your holidays were wonderful!  Here is my take on 

Santa's Christmas delivery from a balloon with a steampunk twist.

I took a 12 x 12 canvas and painted the sides and border a light brown.  I used Mod Podge to seal the paint and adhere the Bo-Bunny: Silver and Gold - Festivities paper.  The compass is from Gina's Designs and painted gold. It looked like it was printed on the paper so I raised it for dimension. 

I used Sparkling H20's Crystal Green on the  raw chipboard and got an iridescent effect on the trees.  I stamped a jingle bells music stamp on the trees and finished the edges with Stickles - Pantina. I placed chipboard under the trees at different thicknesses to create a 3D look.  I hand drew Santa, colored him with Copic markers and used a snow writer on his coat and hat. The chipboard basket was colored with Sparkling H20's and Bo-Bunny paper.  The list was an old stamp on tan paper and distressed with brown ink.

Gina's Designs Mini Display Tray -Hot Air Balloon tops the canvas on a cardboard "hinge".  I used the Sparkling H20's on the outside of the balloon.  Bo-Bunny - Silver and Gold paper line was used on the whole balloon.  I used Tim Holtz rosette die by Sizzix under the clock face and hands, and a super small one was used as a gear.  A fence from Gina's Beach Shape Set was cut down to make a ladder for the elf.  Gina's gears were painted with silver, gold and bronze.  The peppermint was painted white, red and distressed with brown ink to give it a gear look.  I used a Gina's Design Type Writer Key "25" as gear. The snowflake was daubed with Stickles - Icicle, Gold and Pantina. The Bo-Bunny - Elf Magic paper elves were fussy cut out and the magic ticket was punched out using an EK Success Punch.  Gina's flourishes miniatures were painted black and gold.  The dream in a circle is new for Gina's Design and will be available in the store in 2015!

Lost in Thought

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a layout for Gina's Designs.

I think these chipboard pieces fit beautifully with the vintage theme of the page.

To decorate the chipboard, I first prepped all the pieces with gesso. On the leaf pieces I put green and brown watercolors over green chalk ink. I then topped them off with Distress Crackle Paint.

For the pink pieces, I put crackle paint over pink chalk ink.  I rubbed in some brown chalk to define the cracks. The pink didn't show up much as much as I would have liked it to against the background, so I used pink Twinkling H20s to make the pieces darker. After that, I applied yellow, then purple H20s, letting each layer dry. I ended with another layer of crackle paint.

Hello Friend 3D Card by Kim

Hi Friends, and happy Friday! Today I have a fun 3 dimensional card to share with you. I created this out of one of  Gina's Doors and a 3 x 3 inch Bagatelle Box.

 

 I used some of the Mirabelle paper to cover the door and the box, I just love the blue roses and the little bit of sparkle they have.  I attached the Bagatelle Box on top of the door, after I painted and covered it with the same paper.

After the painting and papering was complete, it was time for the fun part, embellishing!  I added some fun metal and resin pieces to the box along with my "hello friend" sentiment and a vintage doily and paper flowers. I framed the box with some of the Bella Mini Flourishes

The Door comes with several little styles of door knobs and plates.  I embossed one of the door plates and added a button with a blue rose on it for the knob.

I then added some various flowers from my stash and a lovely glittery butterfly.

 In these two photos you can see the lovely window that is in the door, I added lace behind it and a cool little lion head door knocker.   For the back of the door, I papered it and added a "to and from" stamp for my sentiment which I will add before I send it to my friend.

 I hope you have enjoyed my project today, these 3D cards are super fun to make! You can create any style as Gina has a great selection of door's in her shop.

Today we have two fabulous designers up to share their fun and exciting projects. First up is Lynne to share her altered masks.

 

 Hi! Lynne here with  my latest project; I've been having fun decorating my new scrap room and decided to make these to hang on one of the doors using the Masks Shape Set.

I used pieces from the Mini Flourishes-Bella Set and the Feather Shape Set and used papers and embellishments from the November Scraps of Elegance kit  to finish them.

 

                     I painted the pieces with acrylic paint then brushed them lightly with white glitter paint.

     

                The fussy-cut dangles were finished with Glossy accents to add strength and a metallic look. I had so much fun with these that I just might finish the other masks in the set for my door too-there's no end to the creative ways you could decorate these great pieces!

Hi everyone. Shanna here today to share a fun altered tin. 

I don't know about you but I love to repurpose things. Especially things that are sturdy like cookie tins, the shortbread cookie tins too. 

So first I covered the tin with paper. Then I used a doily that I painted with some Distress Paint. I also  painted the chipboard pieces from the Vintage Seamstress Shape Set. 

The sewing machine got an awesome coat of crackle paint to really make it vintage.

I finished off the tin with some flowers from our Craftsupplies1 cross promotion.
