Spring has Sprung!

Hey everyone! Marla here with my final project for my guest spot. It's been awesome working with Gina's products as a guest designer!

For my project today I have a super cute Bird mobile to share. I just love how it turned out and hope you do too!

I have been seeing a few flowers growing and hearing some birds outside so that means spring is coming! I live in Connecticut, USA and we have long winters so spring is a welcomed time of year! 

I decided to use 'Mobile Birds' from Gina's store to create something inspired by the coming spring. The kit includes everything you need to create this awesome mobile!

First, I covered the top birdhouse part with paper and added some pretty trims and flowers. For the nest I used a beautiful handmade flower that I received from a friend. She also gifted me that pretty bird hanging above the nest.

The birds that came in the kit I decided to give a mixed media look to. I painted them with gesso then used a script stencil with modeling paste. After they dried, I used some Lindy's sprays in a few spring colors.

Catch of the Day by Guest Designer Marla Rizzo

 Today I have an altered, 'Alarm Clock' piece to share with you guys. I'm calling it Catch of the Day because it is beach themed and features a captured mermaid from the Mermaids Shape Set.

I just love the beach so I tried to make this as true to the real thing as possible. With Gina's Beach Shape Set pieces added to this, it really came alive. 

First I painted the Alarm Clock piece with some homemade textured paint. Then I used cheesecloth for the net behind the mermaid. For her I sprayed some Lindy's in blues and added some seed beads to give the look of mermaid scales. I just love how she turned out! All the other Beach Shape Set, Sea Horse Shapes and Flourish Set Amanda pieces I covered in diamond dust to give some sparkle.

C-R-E-A-T-E Banner by Guest Designer Marla Rizzo!

Hello, today I have a beautiful Shabby-French Banner to share. I made it for a friend who visited Paris last month. 

 I used the 'C-R-E-A-T-E dovetail banner kit' from Gina's  store. The kit comes with everything you need to make a complete banner. I started by painting each layer then putting paper on the top and distressed the edges with paint. 

I also used some super cute pieces from the 'Parisian Shape set'. I painted them and added silver stickles.

 

 I painted the letters that are included in the kit and put diamond dust while they were still wet. With all the sparkle and bling, I was hoping to capture the glam of Paris.

Parisian Shape Set

Parisian Pillow Box and Card

Hey, everyone! It's Marla Rizzo and I'm back as a guest designer for the month of April! I'm super excited to share my first project!

I made a shabby chic Parisian gift set which includes a super cute pillow box and a beautiful Paris themed card to go with it.

I just love the pretty pastels in the new Paris paper from Dovecraft. It was perfect for using Gina's Parisian Shape Set pieces.

I distressed the paper and layered it to create a shabby look for the card. I used the, Art Deco Border on the top as well as some beautiful chipboard words from the, 10 words shape set. Top it all off with the beautiful glittered Eiffel Tower from the Parisian shape set and Voila!

I altered this pillow box using cream Laces, a rosette and some vintage doilies. I also used the Mirror and Fleur De Lis, from the Parisian shape set. I used some glitter on them and added a vintage image to the mirror.
