Gina's Facebook Group March Challenge "Spring Wings"

Hello friends, happy Friday! Today I would like to share my project for our Facebook group challenge.  You can find our group HERE, just request to join and we will be happy to add you!
This month is all about Spring, and DT Member Deann has created this amazing mood board for us
to be inspired from.  I just love the colors!

I created this mixed media canvas, and used several of Gina's chipboard pieces.
The new Spring Collage border worked great for the challenge.  I cut it up in several pieces and embossed it in a fun raspberry colour.
I also used the bird scribble frame and painted and embossed it in coordinating colors.
I created some feathers from paper to add texture and dimension and added some cardboard butterflies, metal embellishments and flowers to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Breanna's Birthday Banner

Kathi here to share with you my first project for March. I had fun creating this banner playing with garden fairies, flowers, & doilies, not to mention all the bling, ribbon & trims.
It spells Breanna
Each one of the pennant's has a different white trim.
Ribbon, trim & bling hanging from the pennant
Intricate doilies were sprayed with Lindy's Stamp Gang Spay.
Garden Fairies were painted with white gesso, then I added glossy accents then while wet I dipped them in chunky white glitter. Each letter was covered with glossy accents.

Guest Designer Barb Black

Hi Everyone!
My name is Barb Black and I’m pleased to be the Guest Designer this month at Gina‘s Designs.
With Spring knocking on the door, my mind turns to tidying up. Not that I ever really do it, but I think about it at least. I’ve been looking around my studio at projects that have been left unfinished. Let me tell you, there is no crime in that! Some things just need a little time to ripen.
I found this 5 x 7” canvas board that I started painting a year or so ago. All I had were the background colors - red, black, gold (which I‘d sponged onto the canvas), and the shadowy guitar that I’d painted in the corner.
Right around the same time, I was going through a stack of old sheet music that I keep around for art projects when the phrase “when whippoorwills” caught my eye, along with a baggie full of Gina’s bird cutouts. Suddenly I found myself in creative overdrive.
I began by painting two of the birds with white acrylic paint. Once they dried I distressed them a little with some metallic copper paint - I just smudged it on with my fingers. Once that dried, I stamped musical notes on them in black ink.
For the flourish, I painted the background layer in black acrylic. I daubed Tsukineko Delicata Gold ink all over the foreground layer, and once it was dry, stamped musical notes on that as well with black ink. I cut out the small piece of old sheet music that had been my inspiration, and adhered it to the back of the largest swirl, giving it a window effect.
I added the musical notes in Delicata Gold ink to my canvas background as well as some music words that I added in beige as a backdrop to the swirl. After that, I glued on the swirl and then glued on the birds and I was done!
It ended up being such a fun project that spoke to my musical and artistic heart. I hope it helps you find some springtime inspiration (especially if you’re stuck in some snowy place!).

‘Til next week… happy creating!

Picket Fence Clock

Hi everyone! Melissa here for Gina's Designs.  This is an adorable desk clock I've decorated with paper, paint, and pearls.  I first painted it with gesso, then painted the whole thing a pale pink, using a mix of white, pink, and yellow acrylic paints. I inked the edges with green chalk ink and green distress ink. I glued on some images and put pearls around the edges. I then dry brushed on some silver leaf paint. I painted over that with white acrylic and gesso. I dabbed on pink chalk ink in different areas. I painted the edges and clock with Lindy's Stamp Gang, watercolors, and Distress Ink.  I painted on silver leaf paint on the clock hands, and dry brushed some on the clock. I brushed white Pearlex powder over all the painted areas.
I plan on using this in my scraproom, and hopefully I can keep better track of time!

Thanks for looking!

Fun ATC Shrine and Coordinating ATC

Hi there; Lynne here with a fun project. I decorated one of Gina's adorable little ATC shrines and made a coordinating ATC (although I'm thinking the shrine would also make a wonderful little gift box!)
The design of the shrine reminded me of a window, so I added little tulle "curtains":
I added several fussy-cut images from the paper, which I popped up with foam tape, and also used several pieces from Gina's Mini Flourishes Bella, which I painted, stamped and heat-embossed.

Thanks so much for stopping by; check out the great selection of these adorable ATC shrines in Gina's store-they're so much fun to decorate and can be used for so many things! Have a super-happy, colorful and creative week!

Framing Photos and Gina's

Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing a special layout of a vintage photo that is very special to me.  I chose to use a couple of different pieces of Gina's chipboard frames that seemed to fit the photo perfectly.

To achieve the rusty patina look of the chipboard pieces, paint the chipboard two coats of gesso.
Paint each piece with a metallic paint in an aqua color.
Ink all pieces with Versa Mark.
Cover with Utee embossing powder and heat set.
Spray your pieces with a brown shade of glimmer mist or mist of your choice.
Rub with Inka Gold in Copper.
