Kathi and Deann with two projects featuring Gina's Designs and The Robin's Nest

Hi, Kathi here to share a 12 X 12 canvas I created using the new Love Wall Art Kit available in the store,  and papers from the Robin's Nest Wild About U collection.

I began by painting the canvas with black gesso, then adding the 

zebra paper from the Robin's nest.

I painted the corrugated squares, included in the kit, with white gesso, alternating a white/tan look. The letters in the word LOVE were embossed with black Utee. The hearts, key & lock were painted with red paint. After the letters & the hearts were dried I layered them on the corrugated squares. The corrugated squares were then stacked on the larger square that I'd covered with the red velvet paper. I arranged them on the zebra paper and placed a large white lace flower in the center.

I created this flower using a lace trim. With a bling center cluster.

Our First Sketch Challenge and a Perpetual Calendar from Veronica

Hello Everyone!  Veronica here to share my first project for the 2014 design team.

I'm so excited to show off this fun project. I fell in love with this piece from the moment I first saw it, but was waiting for just the right paper. I found the perfect match, and just in time for the New Year!

I used Bo Bunny's The Avenues. I love the Victorian feel to the paper line, with it's mix of old fashioned clocks, and old screened and wooden framed doors and shutters. I was watching Alfred Hitchcock's old classic black & white film, Gas Light while working on this project, and it really got me inspired to create the Old Victorian London feel.  I hope you enjoy taking a look, as much as I enjoyed working on it.

 Gina's Bird Cage went perfectly with this paper line. All I did was Gesso the cage, then sprayed it with Perfect Pearls, and Radiant Rain mists to give it an antique feel. I added some wooden spools to give the Calendar  pedestals to stand on.

 The whole calendar was mainly done in the Bo Bunny paper, all but the inside,which I then again used Gesso, crackle paint, and the same colors of mist and inks to give it that over all aged look to it.

 I love the clocks on this paper! Really goes well for a Calendar theme, as you track your days.

A Layout with Gina's Designs and The Robin's Nest

Hi there!  It's Nancy here today with the first of my projects for our January cross promotional with The Robin's Nest.  I had a lot of fun creating this layout of my favorite Valentine, Miss Billie Jean.  She was just a puppy in this photo taken four years ago.  She stole my heart from the moment I saw her.  I created this layout from a sketch I found on Pinterest by Erica Mouton.  The background paper is a very pale pink parchment from my stash, on which I did some script stamping and some stenciling. All other papers are from The Robin's Nest Wild About U Collection.  I also used lots of Gina's Designs chipboard shapes from two different Valentine themed shape sets.

Christmas With Gina's Designs; Gina's Designs and The Robins Nest

Hi, its Angela here with a layout using the new String Alongs, I didn't really spend Christmas with Gina's Designs as the title suggests lol, although thanks to the wonders of technology Gina and I did spend Christmas morning together :)

Good morning all, Deann here with my first project in our month long cross promotional with The Robin's Nest.  In celebration of Valentine's Day, we have brand new chipboard home decor and shape sets, along with the Wild About U paper collection from the Robin's Nest.

                                                                             

I have placed one of our new string-alongs down the center of our heart shaped Mini Display Tray, and dressed it up with flat backed pearls and hearts.  The string-along, this one in the heart design, is one of several new designs available in sets of three.  The flower matched the paper perfectly (Thanks Kim! )

The Cupid is from the new Cupid's Shape Set. 

I had to add a paper doily because they scream Valentines to me!
I think its because that's what I used in grade School for my Valentines :) 
I also added the circle of hearts from the Cupid's Shape set and a paper rose.

In the upper left corner, I used a bottle from The Old Bottles Miniature Shape set as a Love Potion Bottle, and added a piece of pink Lace behind it. I thought it looked like a table cloth. (Thanks again Kim :)

Valentine Love Wall Hanging by Kim

Hello Everyone, and Happy New Year to you! Now that the holidays are over, we can start to think about what is coming up next, which is Valentine's Day. I love this time of year and Gina's Designs has paired up with The Robin's Nest to bring to you some great creations by the two Design Teams. 

In keeping with the Valentines Day theme, I have created this super cute Love Wall Art hanging, a fun creation to mark the occasion for that special someone in your life.

The Love Pieces are new from Gina's Store, and I had tons of fun using them to create this wall hanging. I used The Robin's Nest Papers as background on it and also on the little red hearts, from Gina's Valentine Shape Set, you will see mingled in as well.

Once I covered the background with the papers, I layered on the pieces from the Love set. I also used some of Gina's Intricate Doilies  on the "L" and the "E". On the "O" and the "V" I attached some of Gina's newly designed wings from the Wings Assortment Set.

I used various embossing powders to bring out some texture in the piece and some vintage laces from my stash, and four white roses in each corner to frame up the wall hanging.

Here you can see above a close up of one of the new Wings from the Wing Assortment Set, which I embossed and layered with some metal findings from my stash. Then I added one of the little hearts from Gina's Valentine Shape Set, to which I added more of the Robin's Nest Paper.

Above here you can see one of the Intricate Doilies I used to layer under the letter L. I have embossed the edges to give a shabby look and the number 14 is from The Robin's Nest Glittered Alpha and Numbered Sticker Set.

The Corrugated Cardboard from the Love set was so fun to work with, I gave it a light coat of Gesso then added various embossing powders in pinks and gold to pink up the tones in the letters and Wings.

And lastly, above here you can see some of the Robin's Nest paper behind the layers of the Love set and a little metal crown from my stash which I also embellished with some shabby white embossing Powder, and again another of the gorgeous doilies from Gina's Store with some embossing around the edges.

Gina's Designs and The Robin's Nest

Good morning everyone!  Gina here with some news and a new element set, created just in time for your Valentine themed projects.  

For the month of January we are doing a cross promotional with The Robin's Nest. They have provided us with their Valentine collection called Wild About U. There are some very versatile papers in this collection, and this month each team member will create two projects for the cross promotional.  I chose to create a set of elements featuring two of the papers, Valentine Cardstock and Valentine Stripe Cardstock. These elements would work well on layouts or in a mini album. I laser cut my pieces but they could easily be made using punches, dies or svgs on a cutting machine. I inked the edges on my pieces,  layered them up using dimensional tape and foam dots, then added a few beads, charms and stones. I used 3 sheets of paper and created 3 sets of elements, which I will be sharing with some of the other team members.

Also up today, we have Melissa to share her first project for the cross promotional.  

Here she is to tell us a little about her gorgeous creation entitled "Love Conquers All".

 

I started off with some watercolor paper that I sprayed with water, and while it was wet,  I sprayed on Dylusions ink spray in red.   I then added stripes of silk acrylic paint in dark pink, followed by a spattering of gold ink using an Art Deco ink pen. I added even more depth of color by painting with gold and silver mica powder.  Next I used one of our new and versatile texture sheets, using it first as a stencil for some texture paste on the right side, and then as a decorative element on the lower left of the page.  I stamped around the edges of the page with different stamps that had texture paste on them, then accented the raised areas formed by the texture paste, with some Art Deco pen ink.  To accent the outside edges of the piece I've used papers from the Robin's Nest including  Valentine Hearts, Red, Dark Distressed Red, and Classic Roses.  To accent the vintage Valentine image I have matted it with their Red Glitter Paisley and Valentine Stripe Cardstock.

I loved working with the chipboard shapes, they really get my creativity going.

2014 News & Romantic Vintage Camera Box

 

Happy New Year to all!

Gina's Designs would like to thank everyone for a great year in 2013, and welcome you to some changes in 2014.

As of today our site has grown. We now have a gallery, where we encourage you to post your projects using Gina's Designs products. We love to see what you have done with the products.

New for 2014, and beginning on January 6 we will be starting our monthly sketch challenge. Each month on the first Monday, Nancy Smith will post a new sketch. Use the sketch for a layout, card, or other project and post your project in the gallery set up for that purpose. Each month one qualifying entry will win a $10.00 gift certificate to Gina's Designs store. The challenge will run from the first Monday of the month through the first Monday of the following month, and winners will be announced the second Tuesday of each month. For this section of our gallery you do not have to include Gina's Designs products to be eligible to upload your project or to win the prize.

Gina's Designs is featuring a new release today in the store. There are over 100 new items, including chipboard pieces as well as home décor and storage items. Be sure to check out the What's New section to see the latest releases.

Good morning pretty people!  Happy New Year!!!!!!  Woohooo!!!!  This is Crafting Marfa, wishing you an awesome 2014 from all of us at Gina's Designs.

Today I have a fantastically fabulous vintage camera box for your viewing delight.  I am an amateur photographer looking to break into the world of professionals, so this box IMMEDIATELY caught my eye when I saw it at the Gina's Designs shop.  My goal was to use it to store the photos that are waiting to be scrapped.  I have to look at this box everyday, so I chose to decorate it in a very pretty, romantic style.  It has lots of layers of paint that helped me come up with a color that I love.  I also couldn't help myself and I used some of my favorite eyelet lace around the lid.  The gold touches were done with a gold paint pen that is absolutely awesome.  This box fits photos that are 5 x 7 and with a little room left over.  This isn't one of those tiny boxes, this baby is really good for storage.  It can also be used for a jewelry box, or to hold some photography supplies, like cleaning stuff or your filters and other small items.  Its a great gift for any photographer in your life ;-)
