House Mini Display Tray by Marfa

This is Marfa, bringing you this display tray in the shape of a house, by Gina's Designs.  The mini display trays are brand new to Gina's Store and I am excited to be premiere my project with them on the blog. I am a mixed media artist and I love putting stuff together that don't necessarily jump at you right off the start.  This is one of those projects :-D

For this project I used a variety of materials.  Glitter, beads, Tim Holtz Crackle paint, ink sprays, acrylic paint, triple thick and fabric lace trim.  I also looked through my stash of leftover odds and ends and found some pewter words, a pewter heart, a brad with the word love on it, and a button. There are lots, and LOTS of layers of paint, watered down gesso and ink sprays.  I covered the layered star with Lumiere paint for a shiny, metallic look.  I really love how that turned out.  I left a space next to the big yellow flowers for displaying photos and other things.

Supplies Used:

Tim Holtz Crackle Paint
Lumiere Paint
Prima Flowers
Webster's Pages and Martha Stewart Lace Trim
Self adhesive pearls and found items.

Christmas In July Freebie Alert!

Hello everyone!  Gina with you today to tell you about a great Christmas in July freebie series that is starting today.  Using a daily type journal in December to capture family memories has become a tradition for many people.  These can be very easy to do and so much fun to pull out and look back through.  During the month of July our freebie Fridays will focus on the "25 Days of December".  Download our free printables each week, watch the blog for Deann's tutorials and samples, work along with us and you can create a complete December Daily style journal to use this year.  Filled with pockets, tags, journaling cards and elements, this set has it all.  Here is a sample I made, bound using my Bind It All.  Deann will be showing other ways to  bind the album as well.
Here are the first three printables in the set.  Be sure to come back and see Deann's tutorials on turning your pages into full sized pockets, how to turn the printables into great elements, and much more.  To download the files, click on the image to get the larger version and save it to your computer.

Birthday Card using Heidi's Stars by Marfa

Hello lovelies, Marfa here!  This week, in the Gina's Designs blog, we are showcasing  one of the newest products that will be hitting the store very soon, Heidi's Stars.  My bf's mom's birthday happens to be on July 4th.  So I decided that these stars are very appropriate for that reason.  Besides, they are so cute!  I used her favorite colors, green and purple.  The card is very simple.  I used acrylic paint and Triple Thick to color and give some shine to the stars, then I layered them.  I used Webster's Pages washi tape for an extra pop of color and to frame the birthday sentiment.  This card is super simple and very easy to make.  But the layered stars give it a real oomph.

Heidi's Stars Cards by Heidi

Hello, Heidi here and I get to share a couple of cards I made using the Heidi's stars in Gina's store.  What better time to get to use them than the 4th of July!

This first card is a pocket card, the front piece is raised so you could put a little gift card in it or a little hershey bar.  I tucked a little freedom card and a pinwheel adorned with one of the stars/gems.  Please take note of the little embossing there in the middle, doesn't it look nice?  I never do anything like this and the card just needed a little something so I pulled out my paper crimper .  The little pinwheel is a 2x2 piece of double sided paper, cut into the middle from each corner and then bend every other one into the middle and adhere.  Easy!
The second card is made with 3 different chipboard stars from the set that you will receive.  I painted each of them with crackle paint. Here is a little closer picture of the 3 stars:
I do hope that you are inspired by these cards, it was alot of fun to make them.  I think that you will find the stars to be quite versatile for holidays, birthday and very masculine as well!

Star Mini Album by Lisa

Hey All! Happy July 1st to you!

It's Lisa Novogrodski here and today I have one of Gina's "Star Mini Albums" to share with you.
Grab yourself a beverage and relax. There are a lot of sweet fun pages to view on this one. (you might want a munchie too)

For the cover I used a coat of gesso as my base. Then I hit it with the heat tool (not really hit it but you know what I mean) and then applied some Magical Micas. I let it dry for a bit and while still tacky but not wet I brushed crackle over it. The crackle smeared the coloring a bit and allowed it to shade and some of the gesso to peek through.

To the little stars I added Lindys Mists and Shimmerz sprays.

I've also added some of Gina's Glassine bags to the pages of this album. I scored them in order to fold them then adhered. This leaves a little pocket to tuck things in and places to adhere photos or other small treasures.

Here is a little vintage 4th of July image I found. Sweet isn't it?

I thought it would be fun to create a little fold out page. I used a die cut from Bo Bunny, cut it in half and attached with a paper hinge.

I like to use die cuts as photo mats.

More glassine bags with little tags tucked in.
Fun star banner and beaded pin.

Whew!Thats a wrap!
Thanks for sticking with me and be sure to check out Gina's Designs Store!
